Curious about floating but not sure what actually happens between walking in the door and floating out of it? Here is your first float, step by step, so there are no surprises. Just an hour of the deepest rest you have had in years.
Step 1: Book your float
Pick a time that suits you at our online booking page, or call 061 424 765. Morning floats bring a clear head for the day; evening floats set up a wonderful night's sleep. There is no wrong answer.
Step 2: Prepare (it takes almost nothing)
- Eat a light bite an hour or two before, and go easy on caffeine.
- Skip shaving on the day, and come with clean skin and hair, free of oils and lotions.
- Bring nothing. Towels, earplugs, showers, shampoo and conditioner are all here waiting.
The full list of small tips is on our Before You Float page.
Step 3: Arrive 15 minutes early
We will welcome you in, show you around and answer every question. Nothing is rushed, and no question is silly. First-timers get the full tour.
Step 4: Shower and step in
Your room is completely private, with its own shower. Rinse off, pop in the earplugs, and step into the pod. The water is ten inches deep, warmed to skin temperature and saturated with 550kg of Epsom salt. Lie back and the salt holds you up. There is genuinely nothing to do.
You are in control the whole time: door open or closed, light on or off, and you can step out whenever you like.
Step 5: Let the float happen
For the first ten minutes or so, your mind will chatter. Completely normal. Do not try to relax; trying is the opposite of floating. Just breathe, and let the water do the work.
Then something lovely happens. Your breathing slows, your shoulders drop, and time goes soft. As the body settles, the brain often drifts toward its slow theta rhythms, the dreamy state between waking and sleep where thoughts untangle themselves. Some people have their best ideas in there. Plenty simply fall asleep, which is perfectly safe: the salt keeps you afloat.
Step 6: Come back gently
Soft light and music let you know your hour is up. Take your time. Shower off the salt, dress slowly, and sit with a cup of tea in the relaxation room. The calm deepens if you do not rush it.
Step 7: Notice the difference
Most floaters feel it walking to the car: a quiet head, loose shoulders, colours a little brighter. The night's sleep afterwards is often the deepest in months, and research suggests the calm from a single float can last several days.
Step 8: Make it a rhythm
Floating builds on itself. Each session, your body finds the calm a little faster and holds it a little longer. If you want rest to become a habit rather than a rescue, our membership includes a monthly float from €49, and credits roll over if life gets busy.
