The benefits of taking time for yourself

Rest for your body.
Room for your mind.

Tired muscles, aching joints, a busy mind or difficulty switching off: there are many reasons to make time for rest. Floating and infrared sauna offer two different ways to unwind.

Let the water carry the weight.

Warm water rich in magnesium sulphate, also known as Epsom salt, supports your body so you float effortlessly. That feeling of weightlessness gives you space to let go of physical effort and everyday demands.

  • Give tired muscles and joints a break

Buoyancy supports your weight while you lie back, giving your body a break from standing, lifting and sitting upright. Early research has found reduced feelings of muscle tension after floating.

  • Settle stress and anxious feelings

Less noise, fewer distractions and no demands on your attention create space for deep relaxation. Small studies report short-term reductions in stress and anxiety after floating.

  • Make room for better rest

When switching off is difficult, floating offers uninterrupted time to unwind. A small study of employees found improved self-reported sleep quality after a series of sessions; sleep benefits are promising rather than guaranteed.

  • Supported rest when you live with pain

For people with ongoing aches or chronic pain, floating offers time to rest with the body supported. Some people report temporary comfort, but lasting pain relief has not been established in controlled research.

Revival’s private wooden infrared sauna02 / Infrared sauna

Soothing warmth for a demanding day.

Infrared panels deliver radiant heat directly to your body. Settle into a private, warm space and give yourself time away from the pace of work.

  • Comfort for stiff, aching joints

For people who find heat soothing, sauna can offer a welcome period of comfort. A small infrared study in people with arthritis found less pain and stiffness during sessions; lasting improvement was not established.

  • Ease post-exercise muscle soreness

A small study in athletes found less soreness and better perceived recovery after infrared sauna. This is encouraging early evidence for people making time to recover after physical activity.

  • A warm space to unwind

Put the working day aside, settle into the warmth and focus on how you feel. There is no task to complete or performance to measure.

  • Create a wind-down routine

A dedicated appointment makes room for rest in a busy week. Enjoy the pause for its own sake; research into infrared sauna and better sleep is still limited.

Away from your phone. Present for yourself.

No notifications. No next task.

A float is time away from calls, messages and screens. You can notice your breathing and let your attention settle without needing to be good at meditation.

When you feel drained or overwhelmed, a planned pause gives you permission to stop. If you are experiencing burnout, that time can sit alongside the support and changes you need at work and at home.

How it works, and what the research says

Magnesium and buoyancy. The high concentration of Epsom salt makes the water dense enough to support effortless floating. Claims that magnesium absorbed through the skin is responsible for better sleep or pain relief are not well established.

Infrared warmth. Infrared energy warms the skin; heat then spreads through the body. How deeply the light itself penetrates depends on its wavelength. The benefit described here is the warming experience, rather than a claim that the rays reach deep into joints. Read the infrared explanation.

  • Floating and short-term relaxation, 2018: 50 participants reported less anxiety and muscle tension after one session. This study had no randomised control group.
  • Floating and sleep, 2014: a pilot involving 65 employees found improved sleep ratings after 12 sessions compared with a waiting list. Larger studies with active comparison groups are needed.
  • Floating and chronic pain, 2021: a 99-person trial did not find a significant long-term benefit over placebo or a waiting list after five sessions.
  • Infrared sauna and joint symptoms, 2009: 34 people with arthritis reported short-term improvements in pain and stiffness during sessions. Improvements over the four-week course were not statistically significant.
  • Infrared sauna and muscle soreness, 2023: a 16-person athlete study found less soreness and better perceived recovery, but no significant improvement in sleep.

Research is still developing and individual experiences vary. These are wellbeing services, not treatments for an underlying illness. Speak with us about suitability before booking; if you have a medical condition, seek advice from your healthcare professional.

The people behind the numbers

Wellbeing comes
to work with us.

How someone feels can affect how they work. Sleep difficulties, mental health challenges and exhaustion can reach into concentration, confidence and everyday life.

The pressure people report

Ireland · 2025

Share of workers in the EU-OSHA OSH Pulse survey.

Survey of 1,009 employed and self-employed people aged 16+ in Ireland. Self-reported responses; categories overlap. Fatigue is not a measure of burnout. These are not figures for a particular employer.

Sleep & shifts

Short sleep and shift work

US survey · 2005–2008

Workers reporting fewer than seven hours of sleep on workdays.

NHANES 2005–2008; 6,338 employed US adults aged 18+, including 277 night workers. Published in 2017. This older observational study shows an association. It is not a current Irish estimate or a result of floating or sauna.

A note from Éanna

“I cared about my work.
I was struggling
with myself.”

9years in factory work
12hour shifts
A month of daysA month of nights

Before creating Revival, I spent nine years working in the factory at Johnson & Johnson in Castletroy.

I worked twelve-hour shifts: a month of days, then a month of nights. I was a high-performing employee and involved in different parts of the business. I cared about doing a good job.

But sleep difficulties, anxiety, depression and burnout affected how I felt and how I performed. I was also living with arthritis. Those challenges followed me beyond the end of a shift.

That experience was a big part of why I left and created Revival. I wanted to make somewhere people could take time for themselves, away from everyday demands.

I have completed a mindfulness course, and my work with meditation and sound has deepened my interest in making space for rest. Through Revival Rooms, I want to make that space more accessible to people working in our local businesses.

Different working days

A little downtime.
On your terms.

Every team has its own rhythm. Individual appointments let employees choose time around their own routine, subject to availability.

Shift & manufacturing

For life between shifts.

Long shifts and changing sleep routines can leave you physically tired and mentally wired. Éanna worked rotating twelve-hour shifts for nine years and understands how difficult it can be to switch off.

Floating gives tired muscles and joints supported rest, with quiet time away from the demands of the job. Infrared sauna offers soothing warmth. Staff can book an available appointment around their own shift pattern.

Healthcare & care

Some time for the people who care.

A day spent caring for others can mean hours on your feet and little time to yourself. A float offers supported rest for your body and a quiet break from constant demands.

Choose a float or sauna appointment for your own downtime. There is no need to organise a group outing or attend with colleagues.

Office & professional

Step away from the next notification.

Long hours at a desk, deadlines and constant notifications can make it hard to switch off. Floating offers a break from sitting upright and time away from screens.

Step out of the stream of messages and give your attention a rest. A private sauna visit offers another way to set work aside and enjoy some warmth and quiet.

People-facing teams

Space after a day of showing up for others.

Teaching, hospitality, retail and public service can keep you on your feet and responding to other people all day. Your own rest matters too.

Enjoy supported rest in a float or soothing warmth in the sauna, with time when nobody needs a reply. Choose the experience and available appointment that suit you.

For your organisation

Make care
something tangible.

A local staff benefit gives your wellbeing message somewhere to go: a real place, a choice of experiences and a clear way to take part.

01

A visible expression of care

Give employees a practical invitation to take personal time, with the option to recognise teams through company-funded packages.

02

Choice for different people

Staff choose whether to take part, which experience suits them and when to visit. They do not need to explain a health problem to use the offer.

03

A simple addition to your programme

Share one clear offer. Employees deal directly with a local team, and appointments fit around availability rather than one group event.

Revival complements supportive management, healthy workloads, occupational health and employee assistance. Float and sauna visits are wellbeing experiences, not a treatment for mental illness or a substitute for addressing workplace pressures.

From a conversation to a staff benefit

Getting started is simple.

02

We confirm eligibility, booking details and terms. For bulk orders, we prepare an individual quotation.

Share the invitation with your staff. They contact Revival and choose an available appointment. Participation is voluntary.

No. The staff discount is unavailable during sales and cannot be combined with another discount. Employer-funded bulk orders have their own agreed quotation and redemption terms.

Are these services a treatment for burnout or mental illness?

They are wellbeing experiences that offer space for personal downtime. They do not replace professional healthcare, occupational health or changes needed to address workplace pressures. Individual experiences vary.

Do I need to share health information with my employer?

No health disclosure to your employer is required to use this staff offer. Contact Revival directly about your visit and any service suitability questions. Your employer only needs to share the offer and help establish staff eligibility.
