These are the four things people actually say to us before their first float.
What if I don't like enclosed spaces?
The pod lid can stay open for your entire float. People float that way every week. And if you'd rather skip the pod altogether, our double Starlight room is an open float room with no lid at all.
I can't swim
You don't need to. The water is ten inches deep and so rich with salt that you cannot sink. You lie back and the water holds you. No technique, no effort, nothing to learn.
What if I can't get out?
You can sit up and step out whenever you like. It's your float and your pace, start to finish. The double Starlight room also has two grab bars to steady yourself getting in and out.
Won't I just be bored?
The first few minutes can feel strange, and then, floaters tell us, the time simply disappears. A rumbling tummy is the loudest thing in a float pod. Whatever you left outside will keep until you're done.
Your first float, start to finish
No mystery, no being left to figure it out. Here's exactly how it goes.
1. You arrive
The team will welcome you, show you your private room and talk you through everything. Ask anything at all. First-timer questions are our favourite kind.
2. You settle in
You shower in your own room, in your own time. Then you lower yourself into warm, salty water and let it take your weight.
3. You float
The time is entirely yours. Lid open or closed, lights as you like them. Sit up whenever you please. Floaters often tell us it goes far quicker than they expected.
4. You come back to the world gently
Shower, dress, take your time. No one hurries you out the door. Floaters often tell us they sleep wonderfully that night.
